Everyday on my Facebook fan page for my book Kryptonite Killed Superwoman: Turning in the Cape for an Authentic, Purpose-Driven Life (http://rebekahpierce.synthasite.com/kryptonite-killed-superwoman.php), I present a theme that I pray empowers and inspires my readers to take back control of their lives and life’s purpose. Below is the message I wrote recently on the topic of wellness – emotional wellness – and I wanted to share it here with you as well because there is a dramatic shift on thought happening, and the recent re-election of President Barack Obama has demonstrated this. Please read the message below, and then share it with your friends and family. It’s time for healing.
********* (Posted 7 November 2012) – It’s Wellness Wednesday, and the word for today is PEACE: inner peace. Now you say, what in the world is inner peace? Well, it’s stillness – a quiet – in our minds. We have been playing this programmed recording – a tape, if you will – in our heads and hearts all of our lives that tells us we are nothing; we are not worthy; no one can ever love you; and you will never succeed, so give up. We’ve allowed situations and circumstances to dictate how and when this tape runs, thereby creating havoc and chaos. The good news is that we can turn the tape off – destroy it forever. And we do that by learning how to see things for what they truly are 99% of the time: self-made acts of destruction.
Because we operate most of our lives in the realm of fear, we give that tape permission to play – that pre-recorded programming, if you will – because we do not stop to feel what it is we are truly feeling deep inside of us. Instead, we cover it up with alcohol or drugs or denial. We try to hide it or downplay it. We convince ourselves that our reality is different from what our spirit and soul knows it to truly be. In other words, “Life is how you see it” (Joel Olsteen, “Life Class” 28 Oct 12). Inner peace – wellness – comes from giving ourselves permission to feel – to participate in the emotion; there is no magic pill or chant that will get you inner peace. It is simply you deciding to stop the tape – giving yourself the time and space to sit back in the feelings that surround you and breathe through them. You will not die if you cry, you will not die if you grieve; you will not be nothing – a nobody – if you do not …. You finish the rest. Gary Zukav states in his book, The Seat of the Soul, that “emotions reflect intentions. Therefore, awareness of emotions leads to awareness of intentions” (61). Become aware of your emotions; that is the beginning to the journey of wellness.
